it's for the birds

Caye Caulker is a birders paradise, particularly here at South Point where we have a small 6 acre protected area.  Along with our native inhabitants we are a stopover point for many migratory species, and you may be here on the right day to see the trees full of say Scarlet Tanagers making their way further South.  If your an avid Birder,  I recommend a side trip to Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary or Crooked Tree.  Belize is said to have well over 500 species of birds documented/identified.  I have a neighbor,  Dorothy Beveridge who has lived here over 30years or so and is a wealth of knowledge in al things Nature. She and her husband Jim have discovered, photographed and documented Belize both above and below the water, and I feel blessed to know her. Thank you for the pictures Dorothy.
